   To chill; to do nothing in a deliberate, enjoyable way. Conjugates fully — чилю, чилишь, почилим — and has largely displaced отдыхать among under-thirties for the 'relax' sense.

   Older speakers find it grating precisely because it replaces a perfectly good native verb, which is the standard complaint about this whole layer of borrowings.

Where it comes from

English 'to chill', fitted with the Russian infinitive -ить. Russian absorbs foreign verbs by suffix rather than by phrase, so every borrowed verb arrives already fully conjugable — the reason this layer feels native within months.
