What it means
A very attractive person, of either sex: 'he's an absolute ride'. Crude but extremely common, and said cheerfully in mixed company.
To have sex with. The verb is the source of the noun and is markedly coarser than the noun in practice.
In use
Your man in the band is a ride.
Note: Said among friends. Not something to say to the person's face, or at work.
She's a fine thing, a total ride.
Where it comes from
The sexual verb is old and general English; the Irish development is the noun for an attractive person, which is not used this way in Britain or America. 'Fine thing' does the same job with less shock value.
