소맥 (somaek)

What it means

   Soju dropped into beer — Korea's boilermaker. Mixed at the table, often theatrically, and drunk in one.

   At a company dinner these arrive by the round, and declining is easier than it used to be but still takes a moment of nerve.

  The ratio is what makes or breaks it.

Where it comes from

소주 plus 맥주, first syllables again. The verb used with it is 말다, the same verb as for stirring rice into soup.
