What it means

  1. To work, of a machine or device: ya no jala el control, 'the remote doesn't work any more'.

  2. To be up for something; to come along. ¿Jalas? — 'are you in?'

  3. To work hard, of a person. Le jala duro en la chamba.

    The 'are you in?' sense is the one visitors hear most.

Literally: To pull.
