What it means
Bro, mate. A term of address between men who are friends or want to sound friendly. Warmer than loco and with none of its edge.
Used of a third party: 'ese manín' — that guy — usually with mild affection.
Examples with translations

Bro, lend me your charger for a second.
Ese manín e' el que arregla motore'.
That's the guy who fixes motorbikes.
Where it comes from
A diminutive of mano, itself clipped from hermano — brother. The chain hermano → mano → manín is the same one that produces manito elsewhere in the Caribbean. Associated in the Dominican ear with Santiago and the Cibao, though it is heard nationwide.
